The League of Women Voters (LWV), a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. LWV does not support nor oppose candidates or parties. The League of Women Voters of Toledo-Lucas County was the first league formed in the state of Ohio in 1921. In 2020 the League of Women Voters will be celebrating 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote. Leagues across the country continue to register voters and provide election information to voters and to the public.
