Making Democracy Work

Calendar of Events

The League of Women Voters (LWV), a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. LWV does not support nor oppose candidates or parties. The League of Women Voters of Toledo-Lucas County was the first league formed in the state of Ohio in 1921. In 2020 the League of Women Voters will be celebrating 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote. Leagues across the country continue to register voters and provide election information to voters and to the public.

We sponsor meetings and events for the public and League members.

2019-2020 Topical Thursdays Schedule

Topical Thursdays (TT) are informal informative events that offer education for LWVTLC Members and the Community on the topics that are featured in our Local, State and National Programs for Advocacy. When able current hot-button issues are also addressed, e.g. The 2020 Census. We have been fortunate to have excellent speakers. All members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to learn. TT's are held on the second Thursday of the month.
